Dear friends and allies - We need your help! Please join our petition drive calling on Congress to fix immigration now! Senate Immigration Subcommittee chairman Chuck Schumer is preparing a new comprehensive reform bill. Congress is gearing up to consider it early next year. But there can be no hope of passing an overhaul without support from employers like you who rely on immigrant workers. Legislators will not vote for reform unless they hear from constituents who back it. And business owners can’t expect to get what we need in a bill unless we stand up and demand it. We need a way for immigrant workers to enter the country legally in years ahead. In the recession, many in Congress are questioning that need. We employers need to fight back! | Click here to send the petition reprinted below to your representatives in Congress. Then forward this URL - your friends, colleagues, customers, members, suppliers and anyone else who might join our fight. Tell your elected representatives that we need a better answer! We need to fix immigration now! PETITION FIX IMMIGRATION NOW! We the undersigned employers from across America urge Congress to act – fix immigration now. The immigration system doesn’t work for anyone. It doesn’t work for U.S. taxpayers. It doesn’t work to make Americans more secure. And it doesn’t work for employers like us who need U.S. and immigrant workers to grow our businesses and contribute to the economy. Even in a recession, many of us still need foreign workers to keep our businesses open and keep Americans employed. When the economy picks up, we’ll want to expand our operations. And labor shortages at the top and bottom of the economy could choke the recovery. We need a better answer – immigration reform that secures the border, strengthens the rule of law in the workplace and brings the immigrants already in the country into the system and paying into the system. Most important for the future, we must provide a way for the foreign workers we’ll need to grow the economy to enter the country legally. Congress, please act now to fix the immigration system so that it works for all Americans! |
