EMPLOYERS IN DC AND BEYOND WORK IN TANDEM TO PREPARE FOR CONGRESSIONAL DEBATE
Employers in Washington and beyond the beltway spent the summer organizing for the congressional immigration debate President Obama has promised will take place early next year.
In Washington, business coalitions representing a broad array of American industries – employers of high-tech, lesser-skilled and agricultural workers – came together to send a letter to the Hill, urging lawmakers crafting reform to take account of future U.S. labor force needs. And IW coalitions across the country got the same message out to voters and lawmakers in their states: immigration reform must include a pipeline for future workers to enter the country legally.
